All excerpts are marked with brackets to indicate the sections to be used for auditions. AYPO suggests that musicians listen to a recording of the work prior to preparing the excerpts.
STRINGS (preparatory level only): Please note that those musicians interested only in AYSE do NOT need to prepare the excerpts labeled "AYCO." Musicians interested in AYCO must prepare all excerpts listed.

STRINGS (symphonic level only): Excerpts are the same for both Round 1 and Round 2 auditions. Each set of excerpts for symphonic level strings has a selection or selections that must be prepared only if the musician wishes to be considered for a role as a principal player. Each of these excerpts is clearly labeled and will not be heard in the first round. The excerpts to be prepared in addition to the applicant's choice of solo are:
